One of the events that grabbed a lot of attention on social media during late Saturday at the Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao's "Fight of the Century" was Jamie Foxx's rendition of the national anthem.

The boxing fans were dismayed with Jamie Foxx's vocals and many shared their disapproval for his "remix" of the anthem's melody. Twitter users began trashing the Oscar winner and singer who had removed his earpiece early on due to probable issues with the key of the organ accompaniment.

A certain "Prince" tweeted that the real fight was not between Mayweather and Pacquiao but rather between Jamie Foxx and the national anthem.  Another tweet said that Foxx's singing had "more twists and turns than the fight."

The actor/singer, who tried to give the song a soulful/gospel rhythm sang with a cracked voice and had added "hallelujah" at the end of his rendition of the "The Star-Spangled Banner." Someone tweeted that it was not the worst national anthem ever heard but "it was far from the best."

Comedian Larry the Cable Guy tweeted that the two boxers should have taken the first minute of the fight to "knock out Jamie Foxx for butchering the Anthem!!"

Foxx's singing only added to the problems that plagued the  Mayweather and Pacquiao fight not just with the boring ring action but also the rampant piracy, and service outages of the pay-per-view.

In 2011, Jamie Foxx sang the national anthem and "America the Beautiful"  at the Pacquaio/Mosely fight with and R&B friend, Tyrese.

Jamie Foxx is an award-winning actor, singer, comedian, writer, and producer who has been recognized and awarded by music award-giving bodies such as the American Music Awards, Grammy Awards, MTV Video Music Awards.
