Chinese “Qigong master” Wang Lin threatened skeptics: I can poke you to death within 100 meters

Recently, the news about Chinese "Qigong master" Wang Lin has spread far and wide. A reporter from Beijing News received a phone call from Wang Lin, a mysterious Qigong master who accused the reporter of taking bribes for the report and threatened the reporter that "both you and your family will not end well." The report disclosed how Wang Lin illegally made his wealth by branding his mystery to attract Chinese celebrities.

Who is Wang Lin? He is a Qigong master who made a name for himself in the late 1980s. What is Qigong? Qigong is a practice of aligning breath, movement, and awareness for exercise, healing, and meditation. With roots in Chinese medicine, martial arts, and philosophy, qigong is traditionally viewed as a practice of "intrinsic life energy". Wang Lin's low profile was broke by a visit of Ma Yun, the CEO of Chinese most popular website Taobao, in July 2013. Chinese netizens question his supernatural power. As a myth that he is a great master has continued for many years in Jiangxi province, it is said he has a unique technique to produce a snake alive from his empty basin, and he once cured the former Indonesian president's fatal illness.

Then he was referred to many celebrities and officials of China, his "master" title brings him fame and riches. Wang Lin builds a kingdom of money by any manner of means. His real estate spreads all over Shenzhen, Nanchang and Hong Kong. In one of his mansions, there are three Hummers and one Rolls Royce in the backyard. All his cars' number plates are consist of the same numbers. Wang Lin said: "I love Hummers. They are safe. One of my Hummers is made for U.S. troops to fight in Iraq. It will be ok even if you throw 15 grenades in it.

In July, he greeted Ma Yun, Zhao Wei and Jet Li with his Hummer. The three celebrities' photo with him was put on the Internet. The photo sparks heated public suspicion among Chinese netizens.

Sima Nan, a Chinese social commentator who is well-known for his criticism of pseudoscience and supernatural phenomena, comments about "Qigong master" Wang Lin. Sima Nan said: "As long as Wang Lin admits his so-called supernatural power is just some magic tricks, and he bamboozles the audience in the name of pseudoscience, we will forgive him." For Sima Nan's challenge, Wang Lin replied: "How dare you! You want to challenge me? I can poke you to death within 100 meters with my supernatural power."
