Chinese media reported that the man surnamed Lu, who works as a professor at South-West University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, burst into rage after being denied a seat upgrade in the United Airlines flight bound for New York City. Lu reportedly started kicking about and injured three police officers in the melee.

Lu was reportedly drinking before the plane took off and had to be stopped while attempting to transfer to a first-class seat. That was then he started the ruckus, running around and lying down in the aisle. The plane's captain reportedly called for police to get him off the plane. The officers are said to have struggled to take him off the plane.

Reports indicate that some passengers had to help the police to get hold of him as they tied his hands with cable cord.

A YouTube video shows Lu as he goes wild, kicking and screaming as officers and passengers do their best to get him out of the plane.

This is not the first incident involving a Chinese passengers displaying bizarre behavior while on a plane ride.

An elderly woman from Shaanxi province made the headlines last week after she was caught and fined in Hong Kong court for attempting to steal a life jacket off a Cathay Pacific Airways plane. The lady, however, claimed that she thought that it was just a souvenir.

Another incident was when a 12-year-old girl and her family were had to be escorted off from the plane after she verbally abused airline staff.

The issue of Chinese passengers displaying impolite attitude onboard aircrafts is a cause for concern. With the unprecedented growth of the Chinese economy and with more passengers traveling to and fro, more and more news and videos have surfaced showing just how unpredictable some passengers can be, from using mobile phones while the plane in midair and smoking in planes' toilets, to beating up airline staff.
