Chelsea FC legend John Terry has reportedly announced that 2015-2016 would be his final season in Stamford Bridge and rumors were out that he is contemplating on moving to the US or China to try and extend his playing career next season.

Reports have also said that the 35-year-old England national team captain is not considering a transfer to a rival English Premier League club as he is a "Blue by heart" and always will.

The Telegraph reported that Terry dropped the bomb on Chelsea officials before the team's 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Jan. 24, saying that "it's not going to be a fairytale ending, I'm not going to retire at Chelsea".

Terry said that he believes "he is still capable of playing at the highest level", but he needs to do it "outside of England".

"Ideally I would have loved to stay, but the club's moving in a different direction. No player is ever bigger than the club. The club will move on. It's going to be my last year and I want to go out at the top," Terry said.

Still, club officials are adamant that he could still stay with the Blues and sign an extension if he wants to.

"John requested a meeting with the club the week before last. In that meeting he asked about the possibility of an extension to his existing contract," a club spokesperson, who requested a condition of anonymity, said. "John was advised that while no new deal was currently on the table, that situation could change in the coming months."

"The club has the utmost respect for John and everything he has helped us achieve to date. He is a fantastic servant of Chelsea Football Club and a superb captain and, as such, the club will keep the channels of dialogue open," the spokesperson added.

Terry has led the Pensioners to four domestic titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, one Champions League title, and a Europa League trophy, which makes him the most successful team captain in the history of the club.

Terry went on a personal tour of China last summer, as per the Daily Mirror, which sparked rumors that the Barking, London native is considering a move to the Far East Asian nation.

Former Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari is currently the head coach of five-time Chinese Super League champions and two-time AFC Champions League winners Guangzhou Evergrande while Dan Petrescu, Terry's former teammate at the Stamford Bridge, manages Jiangsu Suning FC, another top CSL club.
