China has reported its 11th case of Zika virus as a seven-year-old girl tested positive on Thursday.

According to Xinhua News, the latest case of the widely-feared virus in the country was reported by South China's Guangdong Province after the girl, reportedly a Venezuelan citizen, returned to her hometown in Enping City, Guangdong with a skin rash, a known symptom.

Among the other common symptoms manifested by someone infected by the virus are fever, joint pain, rash, conjunctivitis, headache and muscle pain. In some cases, it was also cited as a possible case of microcephaly in new-born babies.

Meanwhile, the health and family planning commission of Guangdong revealed that the victim is now in a stable condition and still under observation at home.

Since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Zika virus as a global emergency back in February following the outbreak reported in Central and South America, China has been active in implementing interventions especially that the hot weather may cause the mosquito-borne to spread.

In the meantime, Newsweek reported that a new research suggested that another serious neurological condition could be linked to the said infection.

Conducted among the six patients in the emergency room and neurology outpatient department of Hospital da Restauração in Pernambuco, Brazil, it was noted that aside from fever and rash, some of them also experienced severe itching, muscle and joint pain and red eye.

But what was shocking in the result of the research was the observation that reportedly happened to the patients - they had neurological symptoms, particularly numbness and weakness in the extremities and headaches, either right after or within 15 days they found positive of the virus.

The results of the latest study on Zika virus, which affected China as well, will be presented at the American Academy of Neurology's 68th Annual Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia this week.
