‘Star Trek’ TV Series to Start Production Late 2016; To Take Different Direction from ‘Star Trek’ Roots?

"Star Trek" franchise will be back in small screen soon, as CBS confirmed that the filming for the Sci-fi TV series will begin later this year.

Bryan Fuller's "Star Trek" TV series crew will be heading in Toronto and will start filming this fall. The announcement of the said production details was made by CBS TV Studios via Twitter, where it said "This just in! The new #STARTREK TV series will set course for Toronto and begin filming this fall. #CBSAllAccess"

Although "Star Trek" TV series is confirmed for production, no word yet on what is the exact title which will be given to the show. However, rumor has it that "Star Trek" TV series' title details will be provided prior to the production of the TV series. In addition, the only firm information provided by CBS is the expected premiere date of "Star Trek" TV series, which may happen on January 2017.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that there have been a lot of strict rules on broadcasting "Star Trek" revival on small screen. CBS CEO Les Moonves said that they may only air "Star Trek" TV series six months after Justin Lin's "Star Trek Beyond" film is launched. He added that this deal made by CBS and Paramount will avoid confusion for the viewers of "Star Trek" franchise.

In terms of "Star Trek" 2017 TV series' plot and storyline, Nicholas Meyer, who is one of the chief writers of the show, revealed that the upcoming TV series will be based on a different perspective and may take a different path from its predecessors.
