Uruguay takes on Venezuela in a Group C encounter of the ongoing Copa America Centenario 2016 soccer championship at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA.

The Uruguayan national football team lost their Copa America 2016 opener against Mexico 3-1 in a match which saw a national anthem blunder. The organizers mistakenly played Chile's national anthem in place of Uruguay's national song before the match at the Phoenix University stadium on Sunday.

Uruguayan defender Maxi Pereira remains optimistic despite their comprehensive loss against Mexico. "When you don't start with a victory, you must go out and win the next game (against Venezuela), it's all on us ... we have to have hope, we've pulled it together at more challenging times and you have to think about what's ahead," he said.

Venezuela, on the other hand, looks to inch closer to a quarterfinal berth with a victory against Uruguay on Thursday. La Vinotinto earned a 1-0 win in their opening game of the tournament against resurgent Jamaica last week.
