Actress Rebecca Zhu admitted that she's having a hard time controlling her emotions after portraying tragic roles in back-to-back movies.

Zhu, who won the Miss Hong Kong title in 2011, was better known in the entertainment circuit not for her acting prowess but for her love life and romantic link-ups. Nevertheless, Zhu seems to have finally emerged as an actress after her performances in two TV dramas, The Last Healer in Forbidden City and Over Run Over, were well-received by critics.

However, playing two tragic roles one after the other proved to be quite straining for Rebecca as she's now having a hard time detaching the emotions from her characters. "It felt like I became an entirely different person. I liked to isolate myself," she said.

The actress said that she would not shed a tear when rehearsing but when the spotlight was upon her, she couldn't hold back her emotions.

"The dialogue I read was supposed to be very relaxed, but I instead delivered it in a very disheartening way," she shared, adding that Gigi Wong made her feel comfortable. "[She] reminded me to relax so I could perform better."

Another hurdle she had to surmount, especially when filming The Last Healer... was learning how to swim. In fact, Zhu, who played the role of Consort Tsan, had to plunge herself into a deep well for one of the show's scenes.

"Because we wanted the scene to be very realistic where I was struggling in the water, the staff would step on my hands when I tried to cling to the sides of the well," she recalled.

Zhu even drank the dirty water accidentally while she was submerged and suffered from an allergic reaction afterwards.

"There was water in my ears and my nose was very uncomfortable," she said.

When asked about her experience on the set of Over Run Over, Zhu praised co-star Pal Sinn for brightening up the set's atmosphere. The pair, who has previously worked together, play husband and wife in the television program.

"In the past, he portrayed my father. This time, he portrayed by husband. We understand each other, so the atmosphere is very cheerful," Zhu added.
