South Korean pop singer Hwang Chi-yeul has already sold at least 260,000 copies of his first Chinese song in just three days from release.

The sales of the EP called "The Farthest Distance" performed well in the mainland the moment it was released on Friday, as revealed by Kugou and Kuwo, two of the country's major music downloading and chart providing services, Yonhap News disclosed.

The report noted that the 31-year-old K-pop star rose to stardom upon joining the Chinese adaptation of the popular South Korean reality show "I Am Singer," wherein he snatched the top spot for two seasons. Following it, he became more visible by guesting in several Chinese entertainment shows.

"In the official sales data, one of the top buyers purchased over 10,000 copies of his EP for about 68,000 yuan ($10,000)," a Kugou official reportedly dished about the new single of Hwang Chi-yeul.

Based on the data gathered by the entertainment site, the "The Farthest Distance" singer was able to hit a sales revenue of around 221 million won (US&200,000) from China's downloading services.

Meanwhile, Korea Joongang Daily reported that amid the success of his first Chinese song in the mainland, the singer does not have any plans yet to do a Korean version of it.

However, Hwang Chi-yeul reportedly shared that he considers releasing a new album in his country.

When asked about his new single, he had this to say, "As it is the first time for me to unveil a song in Chinese, I paid particular attention to the pronunciation."

"I received the new song from a Chinese songwriter, and we talked a lot about Chinese culture," Hwang Chi-yeul added.
