Streaking squad Shanghai Greenland Shenhua FC (9-5-7, 34 points) will try to extend their two-game winning run as they host the current league leaders Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao FC (15-2-4, 49 points) in a 2016 Chinese Super League season match at the Hongkou Stadium on August 13, Saturday.

Shanghai Shenhua continued to fare well even with the season-ending injury of its top striker and current CSL top scorer Demba Ba five weeks ago. In three matches since then, the team had accumulated a 2-1 win-loss record, which is satisfying enough for head coach Gregorio Manzano.

What is more important, though, is that the team is now tied on points with cross-city rivals and current third-placed squad Shanghai SIPG FC with nine games left in the two teams' season, which means that they have a chance at gaining a Champions League berth next term.

Shenhua nipped powerhouse team Jiangsu Suning FC, 3-2, in their latest match held also at home on July 30, SkySports reported.

Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin scored a brace at the 29th and 80th minute to lead the Flower of Shanghai. Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins' goal was sandwiched at the 59th to complete the squad's three-goal haul. Guarin's compatriot Roger Martinez also netted a double for Jiangsu.

Meanwhile, Guangzhou Evergrande was held to a 0-0 draw by Beijing Guoan in their match at the Tianhe Stadium on Tuesday, via Soccerway.

It was the fourth drawn match of the season for head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari's boys as they continue to be 11 points clear of second-running team Jiangsu in the overall standings.

The Southern China Tigers are a little shaken up at the moment with two winless performances in their last three outings.

The predicted result is a 2-0 romp for Guangzhou Evergrande.
