Mercurial squad Chongqing Lifan FC (7-9-6, 27 points) defeated capital city team Beijing Guoan FC (7-6-7, 28 points) in a 2016 Chinese Super League season match at the latter's home field of Workers' Stadium on Friday to earn their second win in three games.

With the victory, Chongqing Lifan improved to 10th place in the 16-team China top flight table, moving past Liaoning Whowin FC and Tianjin Teda FC, who both settled for drawn games in their respective fixtures in the recent matchday, in the overall standings.

Head coach Chang Woe-ryong's side opened the scoring in the match at the 30th minute with a successful penalty kick by local attacking midfielder Wang Dong. Their lead was doubled just nine minutes later by newly-acquired Brazilian striker Alan Kardec off an assist by his compatriot Fernandinho, as reported by Soccerway.

The 27-year-old Kardec was acquired by the Chongqing residents last month from Brazilian Serie A squad São Paulo FC for an undisclosed fee.

With the Lifan side leading by two points after the restart, Beijing Guoan began to press to try and come back in the game.

However, the Imperial Guards were not able to solve Chongqing's defense until Turkish forward Burak Yilmaz sank his own spot kick at the 81st minute to make it 2-1, following a yellow card booking of Lifan midfielder Ding Jie, via Sofa Score.

Beijing was not able to find the equalizer until full time was reached and the final whistle sounded to succumb to their sixth loss in 20 games this season.

Guoan is currently settled at the eighth spot of the league table with erstwhile contenders Henan Jianye dropping from the fifth place down to ninth place after a three-game losing slide.

Chongqing and Beijing's first meeting last April ended in a 1-1 draw at the Chongqing Olympic Sports Center. Their next opponents will be Guangzhou R&F and Jiangsu Suning respectively.
