The NBA trading deadline is a couple months away, and that means it's time for trade rumors to run rampant. The latest rumor involves Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo heading to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Rondo has been mentioned in many rumors during the past couple seasons, and apparently a breakfast is now enough to spark the rumor mill again. Baxter Holmes, current Lakers writer for ESPN and former writer for the Boston Globe, caught Rondo and Kobe Bryant grabbing breakfast in Boston Thursday morning, as the Celtics and Lakers get ready to play each other on Friday.

Many fans through social media and media sites such as Bleacher Report (BR) are already speculating that the breakfast was some sort of meeting to contemplate a potential future for Rondo in L.A.

Rondo's contract with the Boston Celtics expires this season and will become a free agent this summer. BR cites Holmes mentioning that Rondo could be on his way to the Lakers sooner if Celtics are seeking to trade him before the deadline.

While the breakfast could have simply been a friendly conversation among two star basketball players, Holmes already proposed a potential trade that he feels would entice Boston enough to deal Rondo.

"Kobe & Rondo grabbed breakfast in Boston. KB loves him. LAL could probably get RR for two 1sts + Nash expiring deal," Holmes said in post via Twitter.

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge has been gearing up for the rebuild by piling up draft picks ever since he traded Pierce and Garnett to the Nets in an effort to gather enough assets to make trades further down the road.

The Celtics have seven first-round draft picks over the next four years in addition to a plethora of second-round picks. It's possible Ainge is looking to receive something for Rondo rather than letting him walk in free agency.

But it was just a breakfast however, and like many rumors revolving Rondo, it's best to take them with a grain of salt.
