A two-year-old accidentally shot and killed his own mother on Tuesday after taking a gun from the purse of his mom while shopping at Walmart in Idaho.

According to reports, the woman, Veronica Rutledge from Blackfoot, Idaho had a concealed gun permit. She was reportedly shopping with her children and some of her relatives when the deadly incident occured.

Kootenai County Sheriff Ben Wolfinger said that the moment police were on the scene, they found the 29-year-old mother already dead from the gunshot wound.

"Her son was seated in the shopping cart and accessed the victim's concealed weapon from her purse and discharged it, striking the victim," Wolfinger said. 

Due to the incident, the Hayden Walmart branch will be closing their store for investigation purposes. They will be reopening on Wednesday at six in the morning. Employees did not talk to the reporters about the incident and were asked to leave the building.

A lot of establishments are asking their customers to not bring their guns out in public. However, Walmart still allows their customers to bring their weapons inside their stores.

"A very sad incident occurred at our store today involving the death of a female customer. We are fully cooperating with the Kootenai County Sheriff's deputies as they investigate this matter," Walmart said in a statement. 

When asked about guns being permitted to be in the area when their customers are shopping, a spokesman from the store said that they follow all state, local and federal law. As for the victim, the spokesman pointed out that the woman had a carry permit.

Based on the gun laws of Idaho, residents no longer need to have a background check to purchase a firearm. It is one of the seven states that allow concealed weapons to even be carried around in college campuses.
