Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said that the kid might have barely pulled the trigger but it was enough to take his life.

Gualtieri added, "It's just one of those things that happens where everything lines up the wrong way. You had a 2 1/2 year old who was able to take a gun, pick it up, turn it around and he shot himself dead center in the middle of the chest."

The parents, Kevin Ahles and Christina Nigro, both 23, noted that they heard a loud pop then ran to the car to check on their kid. According to Nigro, she tried to resuscitate her son until the paramedics arrived and Kaleb was then rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The shooting occurred when the couple was with their relatives helping them to prepare for a move.

There has been no indication that anyone did something wrong and no indication of criminal activity of negligence thus no one will be charged in the said case. The weapon was also secured and it witnesses are saying the kid made his way to the car and to the gun without anyone noticing.
