Instead of enjoying the spring break, revelers at the Panama City beach party on the Florida Panhandle had to seek medical treatment due to gunshot injuries inflicted by an Alabama man.

Responding to several 911 calls of the shooting before 1 a.m., the respondents found the victims in the house, outside it, across the street and in the street median.

The police found the suspected gunman, 22-year-old David Jamichael Daniels, of Mobile, Alabama. He was charged with seven counts of attempted murder and jailed while waiting for his first court appearance. The cops also recovered a .40 caliber handgun in the yard of a nearby residence believed to be the weapon that Daniels used, reports AP.

Three of the partygoers, who are critically injured, are 20-year-old Kearria Freed with a head wound, 21-year-old Devanta Moore with a chest wound, and 22-year-old Henton Franklin with a wound on his side. Three others are in stable condition. They are: 21-year-old Kelli Curry with a leg-wound, 22-year-old Jacole Young who was shot in the back thrice and 22-year-old Tykeria Ethridge, with neck and shoulder wounds.

Twenty-year-old Anesia Powell, the seventh shooting victim, was hit on the left arm. Chest and knee and had gone through surgery on Saturday.

Powell, Curry and Freed are students at the University of Panama City Beach on a spring break, according to Jerome Saintjones, university spokesman. The university would send staff to assist the injured students, who it said were innocent bystanders.

Daniel, according to Sheriff Frank McKeithen, has a drug possession charge in Alabama but is free on bond. He came with two friends who are still recovering from a gunshot wound sustained last week in Mobile.

Keithen observed that the spring break is a recipe for disaster. Besides students, other visitors arrive at Panama City beach. Most often, there is heavy consumption of liquor that often spells trouble in the area.
