Current Shanghai SIPG striker Asamoah Gyan reportedly "feels vindicated" by his decision to move to the Chinese Super League last summer after the recent massive influx of world football stars to the Asian domestic top flight.

Ghana Soccernet reported that the 30-year-old Ghana national team captain "feels vindicated by the growing number of world stars who are joining the Chinese Super League" as his choice to play for the Red Eagles have received immense criticisms in his home country saying that "he had lost the plot".

Gyan has been playing successfully for English Premier League club Sunderland AFC when he decided to move to the UAE Pro-League with Al Ain FC in September of 2011 as his then salary with the Black Cats had allegedly increased four times under the UAE giants.

After four seasons of suiting up for The Boss and becoming one of the top goal scorers in the UAE league, he then moved to China with Shanghai SIPG at an undisclosed transfer fee. It was reported that he received a weekly wage of £227,000 with the Chinese club, which made him one of the highest-paid football players in the world.

The 5-foot-11, Accra, Ghana native received a lot of flak, mostly from his hometown media, because of the said move.

However, with the recent developments in the CSL and the arrival of international superstars such as Jackson Martinez, Alex Teixeira, Ramires, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Gervinho, Fredy Guarin, and the others, made Gyan feel more comfortable about the decision he had made last year.

"I said it before that I might bring exposure to that league, I went to the UAE, it was the same, lots of talks and criticisms when I moved there," Gyan told reporters in an interview, as per the Pulse. "But as I always say the top leagues started from somewhere and that is the same way the Chinese league is always picking up."

"Lots of players are coming in and I think next year it will be more and that we should expect more surprises next year but I believe the league in China is really getting better," he added.
