The unbeaten Ba'yi Shenzhen of China lived up to the expectation of many volleyball enthusiasts after routing Foton Pilipinas Tornadoes with a 25-16, 25-18, 25-14 victory to deny the host team's bid to further advance in the ongoing  2016 AVC Asian Women's Club Championship at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan, Laguna, Philippines on Friday.

According to The Manila Times, the Tornadoes came up with a gallant stand in the first two sets before bowing to the taller and stronger Chinese squad to kiss the team's semifinal hopes goodbye in the prestigious continental volleyball competition.

China's top wing spiker Liu Yanhan scored 19 points including 16 kills and three blocks while Chen Yao added 12 hits for the Chinese club, who attacked more with a 46-25 advantage. The team also had the upper hand in blocking (9-3) and service (8-2).

Wang Qi and Wang Yunlu had a good impact on the game for the Ba'yi Shenzhen side with 11 points apiece while playing solid defense. Tornadoes attackers Alyja Daphne Santiago, Aby Marano, and foreign reinforcement Lindsay Stalzer, who paced Foton Pilipinas with nine points during the sudden-death quarterfinal match, were left frustrated.

"We're proud of how we fought," Stalzer said. "China is a very disciplined team. Their basic skills are very flawless and we were lacking in that area. I'm just proud of the fight, unfortunately, we didn't execute the game plan well."

The Philippine squad is now relegated to fight for the fifth to eighth places against the loser between the Sarmayeh Bank of Iran and Altay VC of Kazakhstan match.

Foton Pilipinas head coach Fabio Menta said that despite the downfall, the team would remain proud and go for a finish that is higher than what Petron (the Philippines representatives last year) achieved, which is eighth place.
