Among the 12 higher education institutions included in the list, seven come from mainland China, three from Taiwan, and two from Hong Kong.

Tsinghua ranked the highest among Chinese universities in the list at no. 24, followed by Hong Kong University at No.27.

It is worth noting that Tsinghua surpassed the University of California, Berkeley, which is ranked 28 on the list.

Tsinghua's high ranking marks the second time since 2006 that a Chinese university has entered the world's Top 25.

The impressive performance of China's higher learning institutions are a testament to the significant impact they have made on the global scientific community through their various innovative products.

In fact, some Chinese universities have performed better than their UK counterparts.

For instance, the University of Science and Technology of China and Zhejiang University ranked higher in than Cambridge University, while Nanjing University was ahead of Oxford University in the list.

"The Chinese government has long made a strategic investment in education, innovation and bold reform, which laid the solid foundation of the success of Chinese universities overall rising in the world," noted Dr. Christina Zhang Yan, China director of QS.

According to Zhang, China's efforts to establish world-class universities has borne fruit, as the gap among the world's top universities is now shrinking.

She also emphasized that aside from advancing in research and innovation as world-class universities, Chinese universities should exert more effort in attracting the best talent worldwide, especially experts in international human resources management.
