ComputerBase and WinFuture, two German sites, posted 20 screenshots Thursday of what seems to look like a leaked build of "Threshold," also known as Windows 9 that Microsoft sent to its partners.

The screenshots of the so-called Threshold Build 9834 displays some of its features, according to CNET. Sources said Microsoft is developing these features while a number of Microsoft higher-ups said these features will be included in the next release of a Windows operating system.

In the Build conference back in April, Microsoft's executives said Threshold has the capability of running modern or metro-style applications in Desktop and in a new "mini" Start menu.

Anonymous sources revealed there could also be a notification center, a new virtualized desktops ability and a method that lets operating system testers offer their two cents on features and functionalities to be offered in periodic updates to the build.

There are a few features that are missing, however, or at least aren't showcased in the leak.

It doesn't come as a surprise as the build that Microsoft sent to its partners is a fairly early version of Threshold. For example, the browser in one of the screenshots shows Internet Explorer 11, and not a more recent version of the browser.

Another instance of an unsure feature is the Charms bar. While sources indicate the OS' development team is certain they'll eliminate the feature from Threshold, the bar will likely be part of Microsoft's Threshold Enterprise Tech Preview to be release in late September or early October.
