Jiangsu is currently at the second place in the overall standings with 47 points, only six points behind five straight reigning champions Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao with six rounds left in the term.

The team still has the chance to dethrone the Southern China Tigers in the domestic first division competitions if they could continue their brilliant performances while the champs prolong their recent struggles.

Martinez assisted to local midfielder Ji Xiang for the opening goal of the contest at the 30th minute after both teams started the game tentatively on offense, via Soccerway.

A penalty kick from Alex Teixeira, his first goal of the match, four minutes later doubled the lead for Jiangsu as they headed to the halftime interval with a 2-0 advantage.

Ever Bright managed to cut the lead to 2-1 three minutes after the restart with an individual goal from Brazilian import Diego Mauricio.

Teixeira then scored his second goal with his own one-on-one move versus Shijiazhuang goalkeeper Guan Zhen at the 54th minute to bring the two-point lead back, 3-1.

Martinez netted a goal at the 85th from a pass by team captain Wu Xi before an own goal from Shijiazhuang defender Jiang Jihong made it 5-1 right at the stroke of full time.

Teixeira completed the visitors' six-goal haul in injury time with his third goal of the contest. The goal also helped the Brazilian move to seventh place in the China top flight's top goalscorers this season, as per Xinhuanet.

The loss was Ever Bright's second straight as the team had also been winless in 10 of their last 11 matches to settle at the bottom-most spot of the standings.
