Los Angeles Lakers Presents Chinese Basketball Superstar Yi Jianlian to the Press

Famous NBA club Los Angeles Lakers arranged an official media conference for the team's newest Chinese player Yi Jianlian on Friday.

Following his stellar performance at the recent 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Yi was hired by the Lakers. However, the terms and other details of Yi's contract have not been disclosed, Xinhua reported.

"Going back to NBA feels both familiar and new," Yi told reporters in the press conference. "But it won't take too long for me to get used to it."

Yi was the 2007 NBA Draft 6th overall pick. He was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks, where he played 66 official games in his lone season stint with the Bucks from 2007 to 2008. In his sophomore year in the league, he was traded to the New Jersey Nets and played two seasons with the club.

According to Sina, Yi averaged 7.9 points and nearly five boards per contest over his five-year playing career in the NBA. Yi last played in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011-12 season.

Yi competed for China at the recent Rio Olympic Games, averaging 20.4 points and 6.6 rebounds.

In China's match against the United States in Rio, Yi scored 25 points and pulled six rebounds. He also connected two three-pointers.

Yi arrived in Los Angeles on September 2 and began training right away. He revealed that the team has not decided his position so far. The 2016-2017 NBA pre-season will start early next month

"Coach has not decided my position for yet," Yi said. "I can shoot three-point shot, I am good at spread the floor, I could be playing power forward or center."
