John Cusack Sad About Celebrity-Obsessed Culture of People

Hollywood actor John Cusack says he is unimpressed with the way people are obsessed with celebrities these days and claims to be worried about young stars who have to deal with such an ordeal, citing Justin Bieber as an example.

Cusack, who starred in the films '2012' and 'Conair', attended the Toronto International Film Festival to promote two movies, "Maps to the Stars" and 'Love and Mercy'.

In 'Maps to the Stars', the veteran actor plays the role of a self-help guru who has a son who is a child actor while he portrays the role of Brian Wilson, a member of the band Beach Boys, in 'Love and Mercy'.

During the press conference held for the promotion of the two movies, he discussed 'Maps to the Stars' which was directed by David Croneberg and how it is highly related to the successes and failures of venturing into Hollywood.

Cusack related the movie to the situation of today's young stars and how their lives are constantly being subjected under the lens of the media. He shared that while watching TV, he saw the excessive broadcasting of Justin Bieber's attendance during the event. The actor said he is sad about how people always seem to be watching the Canadian pop sensation's every move.

He also shared that he heard people talking about something and asked what it was all about. He initially thought that there was big talk about some celebrities coming to the event, only to find out that they were speaking about Bieber.

He expressed disappointment that people, adults for that matter, were all over the young star. Cusack said he doesn't know whether or not to feel sorry for the people who are going to make a 25-minute segment over the matter during the TIFF.

Cusack says he worries that co-star Evan Bird, who plays the role of his son in 'Maps to the Stars' and is a rising star in North America, may also suffer the same fate as Bieber.
