Recent NBA trade rumors suggested that Los Angeles Clippers is involved in a three-way trade negotiation that could possibly send Blake Griffin to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Inquisitr reported that Clippers is talking with the Blazers and Sacramento Kings for a potential blockbuster trade that would send the five-time NBA All-Star power forward to Portland, Rudy Gay, Meyers Leonard, Allen Crabbe and a 2018 draft pick to Los Angeles, and Noah Vonleh to Sacramento.

The report noted that the rumored scenario makes sense for both Los Angeles and Portland, but is "quite puzzling for the Kings to make" as they will only get a seldom-used bench player for one of their best scorers in Gay.

However, one speculation is that Sacramento is keen on moving on from the Rudy Gay-saga as the 30-year-old, 10-year veteran has publicly said that he is unhappy with the Kings and would want to move elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Clippers is set to acquire a gifted wing scorer in Gay, which is something that the team has been looking for. It was pointed out, though, that acquiring Gay is not the solution for the team to go deeper into the playoffs especially if the cost is Griffin.

Trade rumors last month said Clippers head coach Doc Rivers admitted he is ready to trade one or two of his Big Three - Griffin, Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan - if that is what it takes for the team to get closer to its goal of winning a championship.

It was also speculated since last summer that Griffin, Paul and Jordan may eventually have to split as it has been proven that the core trio was never a championship material, especially with the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs continuing their improvement.

Portland has to let go a battalion of players for this speculated trade to happen, but it will get the biggest prize in the deal with Griffin.

Sportsrageous indicated that the 2009 first overall pick "would relieve some pressure from Damian Lillard and help spread the floor on offense" and will also "open up the shaded area and give CJ McCollum more room to work."

It is anticipated that the Blazers will progress so much with Griffin around.
