The recent NBA trade rumors have hinted that Chicago Bulls could target Indiana Pacers forward Paul George with Jimmy Butler as the team's top trade piece if its current struggles persist in the upcoming regular season.

The Chicago Bulls has opened the preseason with two straight losses which led to rumors that the team could re-tool its lineup before entering the new season later this month.

One of the latest trade speculations is on the potential deal that would send the Pacers' three-time NBA All-Star Paul George to the Bulls in exchange for Jimmy Butler, Doug McDermott and last June's 14th overall pick Denzel Valentine.

Inquisitr noted that bringing the 26-year-old former Fresno State standout to Chicago will give the Bulls a new Big Three composed of George and new acquisitions Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo, which would be quite formidable on paper.

However, it remains to be seen whether Bulls officials would approve such a deal since Butler is being groomed as the new face of the franchise after the team traded Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks earlier this summer.

Indiana is set to gain huge benefits once they could snag Butler to be part of its starting lineup, along with Jeff Teague, Monta Ellis, Thaddeus Young and Myles Turner, who can potentially become one of the best in the league.

Aside from that, the Pacers will also receive a top bench player and a rookie with a high upside in McDermott and Valentine.

At the moment, the Bulls seemed not in contention for the top spots in the Eastern Conference, but the Pacers already has a deep roster with veterans Al Jefferson, Aaron Brooks, CJ Miles, Kevin Seraphin and Rodney Stuckey on the bench.

This means that the Pacers would also more likely turn down this deal as its team's chemistry might get affected if it pulls off a trade this close to the opening of the season.

Sportsrageous indicated that these trade rumors may just be "an overreaction to the preseason games", but if Chicago would still struggle in the first few months of 2016-2017, then the team may indeed consider looking for a deal.
