Snooker: Ding Junhui of China Enters the Second Round of the English Open

Chinese veteran cueman Ding Junhui slammed Mitchell Mann with a clean 4-0 sweep to reach the second round of the 2016 Coral English Open on Monday night at the Event City in Manchester, United Kingdom.

The current world No. 6 Chinese snooker player controlled the opening round match from start to finish after getting the better of Mann in the best-of-seven encounter and set up a last-64 match with the winner between the 20-year-old Darryl Hill of Isle of Man and fellow Chinese Mei Xiwen tomorrow, according to The Star.

Ding 29, entered the tournament as the newly crowned champion of the recently concluded Shanghai Masters last month after a convincing 10-6 victory over the ruling English world No. 1 Mark Selby.

"It's good, particularly the first one back in the UK. I feel good, we both had chances in the match but I took more of them and I'm quite happy," he said. "It doesn't matter what form I'm in, I have to play in a happy way, taking on the shots and enjoying the game. I try not to think about how the game is going, but instead thinking of the chances and breaks."

The Coral English Open started from October 10 and will end on October 16. It features 128 professional cue sports player. Mark Allen of the Northern Ireland won the title last season.
