Some NBA rumors have claimed that LaMarcus Aldridge is currently "unhappy" with the San Antonio Spurs, as he is playing the sidekick role once again and a move to the Boston Celtics could happen soon.

Aldridge reportedly chose to leave the Portland Trail Blazers last summer because he refused to play second fiddle to up-and-coming superstar Damian Lillard. In the years before that, there were also speculations that he was uneasy playing with Blazers main man Brandon Roy, as he desired to be the undisputed alpha male of the squad.

With his status in San Antonio slowly going into the same direction, as the Spurs management reportedly prefers to build the team around Kawhi Leonard, rumors abound that Aldridge may seek a trade again to another club where he can be the number one team option.

Inquisitr reported that Boston is one of the possible destinations of the five-time NBA All-Star as the Celtics is still looking for a legitimate superstar that will lead the squad into a new era of basketball.

Aldridge, 31, is arguably still in his prime and can form Boston's new Big Three with Al Horford and Isaiah Thomas if he decides to join the team.

The rumored trade scenario suggests that the Spurs will send Aldridge to the Celtics in exchange for a trade package that includes Jae Crowder, Amir Johnson, Jonas Jerebko and two 2018 first-round draft picks.

It would be an enticing deal for San Antonio, as the Texas outfit would get much younger if the trade pushes through. The two draft picks are also valuable in building their team of the future anchored on Leonard.

Boston is set to have a thinner power forward lineup in letting go of Johnson and Jerebko, which could be what Aldridge wants since he will have to play heavy minutes on the spot for Celtics head coach Brad Stevens if that happens.

My San Antonio indicated that even if a trade does not take place before next year's February deadline, it is highly likely that Aldridge will choose to opt out of his deal next summer, which would make him an unrestricted free agent and available for any team interested.

This could force the Spurs to trade him soonest than lose him for nothing in the 2017 free-agency period.
