Recent NBA trade rumors have suggested that the Sacramento Kings could offer Ty Lawson to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Ricky Rubio.

Lawson, 28, has had a shaky career in the past year after he was traded by the Denver Nuggets to the Houston Rockets last summer.

The former North Carolina star never thrived with James Harden and the Rockets last season. He immensely dropped in form, from producing 15.2 points and 9.6 assists per game in Denver during the previous season to only 5.8 points and 3.4 assists in Houston having almost the same amount of playing time.

While the ill-fit was reportedly too evident for both sides, the Rockets waived him in a buyout agreement in March and he was eventually signed by the Indiana Pacers for the rest of the season. His time with the Pacers was worse as he only played 18.1 minutes per game and averaged 4.9 points and 4.4 assists in 13 games.

Aside from Lawson's on-court struggles, his recent off-court activities have also turned off teams. Still, the Kings gave him another chance this summer when they signed him to a one-year, veteran's minimum deal.

However, after another recent off-court incident when Lawson missed the team's flight for a preseason game, rumors went out that he could get traded again, as per Sportsrageous.

Chat Sports Net indicated that a deal with the Timberwolves for Rubio is possible as the Spanish point guard is also keen on leaving Minnesota.

Rubio had been linked to several teams in the summer after he told reporters that he would seek to be traded if the Wolves will not make the playoffs next year.

The arrival of this June's fifth overall pick, Kris Dunn, have also reportedly dropped Rubio's confidence as Minnesota's starting point guard.

New Wolves head coach Tom Thibodeau is said to be planning to give Dunn the opportunity to become the starter this upcoming season as he wants him to grow together with the team's young core of Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine and Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Lawson-Rubio swap is unlikely to happen, though, as it does not make sense for the Wolves to let go of Rubio for a mercurial and undisciplined player like Lawson.
