In their search for roster balance, the Phoenix Suns could pursue LaMarcus Aldridge if the San Antonio Spurs decides to shop around the All-Star power forward.

Rumors have emerged that Aldridge is currently "unhappy" about his situation in San Antonio playing second fiddle to rising star Kawhi Leonard. The Spurs is said to be keen on building their roster around Leonard, while Aldridge is set to fill-in for the role vacated by retired legend Tim Duncan this upcoming season.

The speculations even said the Spurs may decide to trade Aldridge on or before next year's February trade deadline whenever the former Texas Longhorns standout fails to meet expectations this season.

With those claims, further rumors surfaced that a deal with the Suns is coming soon with combo guard Brandon Knight as the possible trade piece with the Spurs also looking to address future issues in their backcourt, Morning News USA reported.

Starting point guard Tony Parker is 34 years old and entering his 16th season in the league. The Frenchman has recently retired from international duty to focus on his NBA career and prevent further wear and tear, prolonging his professional years.

However, the Spurs is aware that Parker will still decline sooner or later and so the team is said to be looking for a long-term replacement for the four-time NBA champion point guard.

Knight is rumored to be one of the targets of Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, therefore, a trade with Phoenix is highly possible once San Antonio thinks that Aldridge is not the power forward they need in the future.

Fansided suggested that Knight, plus a future first-round pick, could be enough for San Antonio to approve a deal.

Another possibility is this year's eighth overall pick Marquese Chriss and a future pick for Aldridge, but the first option, with Knight included, is the more likely to happen given the Spurs' need in the backcourt.

Aldridge recently denied the rumors that he is unhappy with San Antonio, saying he is "winning," so he is "of course, happy".

Aldridge did not specifically mention, though, if he is okay with his current secondary billing in the squad behind Leonard, thus the unending NBA trade rumors.
