Apple Wins Taiwan Thanks to iPhone 7

Various retail channels reported that the new iPhone 7 was the best-selling smartphone in Taiwan for the month of September. Only sales from pre-order that started on September 9 and sales from stores that started on September 16, the phone's official launch in Taiwan, were recorded. This means the number of iPhone 7 units sold could've been higher as it is still receiving a warm welcome until now.

The launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus marks the first time Taiwan was included in the first countries where the phone became available, and the Taiwanese's response made up for it. Aside from being a bragging right and elevator of status in the island, iPhone 7 also became the safe haven for people who have turned their backs on Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 due to reported explosions of the device.

Leading the 10 bestselling smartphones in September is the 4.7-inch iPhone 7, followed by the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung's Galaxy J7, ZenFone 3 ZE522KL, a mid-range phone by Taiwanese company Asustek Computer, and the iPhone 7 31GB. The ZenFone 3 ZE520 KL placed 6th, followed by HTC's Desire 728, Soxy Xperia XA, Taiwan Mobile Co's Amazing X3S, and the ZenFone 2 Laser ZE550KL.

Similarly, Apple had the biggest sales volume at 29 percent, followed by Samsung with 16.5 percent (desite the Galaxy Note 7 not entering the top 10), Asustek Computer with 15.4 percent, HTC Corp with 15.4 percent, and Sony with 8.5 percent.

Apple's sales value of 61.6 percent is a far cry from Samsung's measly 10.9 percent. Sony and Asustek trail in third and fourth place with 8 percent and 7.1 percent, respectively, with HTC's 6.6 percent bringing the rear.
