The Portland Trail Blazers is reportedly set to test the NBA trade market this season as it searches for a star big man to complement main man Damian Lillard, the latest rumors suggested.

Lillard, 26, has emerged as the Blazers' No. 1 player in the past few years, and this season his backcourt partnership with shooting guard CJ McCollum led the team to a 2-1 win-loss record in their first three games.

The former Weber State standout almost single-handedly lifted Portland to a 115-113 overtime road victory over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday at the Pepsi Center.

Lillard scored a game-high 37 points, including the go-ahead buzzer-beating winner that handed the victory to the Blazers, as reported by CBS Sports.

Portland was down eight points with only 1:26 to go before Lillard and his backcourt pal McCollum pulled them back to earn the win.

Bleacher Report noted that Lillard and McCollum are two of the "most explosive up-and-coming stars" in the league right now, who will surely spearhead another playoff run, but the Blazers "could shoot for more" and add another piece to potentially form their own Big Three.

The report cited ESPN's Marc Stein as saying that with Portland's current surplus of trade assets in the wings (Allen Crabbe, Evan Turner, Moe Harkless) and frontcourt (Mason Plumlee, Meyers Leonard and Festus Ezeli), it has more players than it needs in the said positions.

This instigated rumors that the Blazers is planning to trade some of these assets for an All-Star level big man to further strengthen and build its lineup "around backcourt bedrocks" Lillard and McCollum.

There are still no specific names being mentioned yet on the Blazers' list of frontcourt targets, but recent trade rumors have mentioned the Clippers' Blake Griffin, Cavs' Kevin Love, Heat's Chris Bosh, Kings' DeMarcus Cousins, and Sixers' Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor as the big men who could be on the move this season.

Having another key player to supplement Lillard and McCollum would certainly help Portland go deeper in the playoffs next year.

Last postseason, the Blazers knocked out the Clippers in the first round before succumbing to the Golden State Warriors in five games during the conference semifinals.
