Suns head coach Earl Watson has offered his former teammate Ronnie Price a position in the team's coaching staff in Phoenix after the point guard was waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 24, the latest NBA news and rumors revealed.

Price, 33, was the 37-year-old Watson's teammate for only one season with the Utah Jazz in 2010-2011. The former Utah Valley standout then joined the Suns the following season while Watson stayed with the Jazz for two more years.

Watson then transferred to Portland Trail Blazers in July 2013 for one season before retiring and moving on to a coaching career.

Two seasons later after his stints with Austin Spurs and Suns as an assistant, Watson was promoted as Phoenix's head coach in 2015-2016 and Price had turned out to be one of his players.

Price had joined OKC in August for a one-year, $5 million deal coming from Phoenix, but the Thunder later waived him after suiting up for the team during the preseason games.

He was intended to be one of the backup guards for Russell Westbrook. However, when OKC trimmed its roster to 15 players, he was one of those cut from the squad with Cameron Payne and Semaj Christon chosen.

With Price available as a free agent, Watson reportedly wants him back in Phoenix, not as a player but as one of the coaches. ESPN reported that Watson wants him in his staff "in whatever capacity he would like."

Meanwhile, Price expressed his preference to continue his playing career over starting a coaching job at the moment.

"Just come," said Watson, via the Norman Transcript. "We need your presence. You wanna do front office work?"

"You wanna do scouting? You wanna work with a player?" Watson added. "Just take a trip. Come have dinner with me one time. I'll never let you leave. That was the sales pitch."

Watson later revealed that Price turned down his offer, saying that he "is not open to the idea," at least for now. The coach then said that Price is "too competitive" to hang up his jersey yet.
