There are rumors that the Golden State Warriors could pursue Milwaukee Bucks center Greg Monroe as the club continues its search for a quality starting center.

Golden State currently has veteran big man Zaza Pachulia as its starter at the number five spot alongside the team's Big Four of Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

Speculations abound that the team wants to improve at the center position, and Monroe, who is currently demoted to a backup role in Milwaukee, is said to be one of the primary targets of the Warriors before this season's February deadline passes.

Golden State evidently wants to win their second NBA championship in three years this season, which is why the team is looking to plug all the "holes in their armor," according to Real Sport. At this time, the center spot is considered by some analysts as the Warriors' weak link in their starting five.

Although Pachulia is a crafty and experienced player, his production is said to be deemed "not good enough" by the club. The report noted that his current averages of 4.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game lacks "conviction" and "power" that Golden State's senior officials expect from the position.

Backup centers Anderson Varejao and JaVale McGee are also not deemed suitable enough to replace Pachulia as a starter, and so rumors have emerged that the Warriors are looking to trade for the big man that they want.

Monroe is a 26-year-old, 6-foot-11, and 265-pound player who could suit to the Warriors' requirements at the said position. He is considered as a starting-quality center, but at the moment, he is playing a reserve role in Milwaukee because of roster fit issues.

He has been thriving with his new role under Bucks head coach Jason Kidd, but trade rumors abound that he may eventually request to be traded to another team that would allow him to start again.

HNGN reported that the Warriors is a "potential destination" for Monroe should he decide to quit his role with the Bucks in the future.

While Monroe's defense continues to be an issue, he is known as a versatile inside scorer and passer, which is something that could prove to be deadly for opposing teams as he will be surrounded by shooters at Golden State.
