Chinese Basketball Association: Shanghai Sharks Beat Liaoning Flying Leopards, Jimmer Fredette Scores 47 Points

After suffering their first loss of the season, the league's top team Shanghai Sharks immediately bounced back by beating the Liaoning Flying Leopards after a 117-105 victory on Friday.

The Sharks were once again lifted by the former NBA player Jimmer Fredette.  The American point guard scored a game-high 47 points including eight connections from beyond the arc region while going 9-14 from the two-point range in 42 minutes of playing time, according to EuroBasket.

Local players Xiaoyu Liu and Liang Cai finished the game with 22 points and 21 points respectively while Frenchman Guerschon Yabusele had 15 markers and a team-high eight boards for the Sharks, who forced the Flying Leopards to commit 14 turnovers during the game.

Veteran American import Lester Hudson paced Liaoning with 32 points while fellow foreign reinforcement Shavlik Randolph had 23.

With the victory, Shanghai improved to a 7-1 win-loss record and is currently tied with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers and the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions on the top of league table.

The Sharks will be facing the Shanxi Brave Dragons in the next round of the regular season on Sunday. The Brave Dragons currently has a 4-4 win-loss card and is ranked 13th in the 20-club Chinese league.

According to NowGoal, the Sharks were outscored by the Flying Leopards in the opening period 19-23. However, the Yao Ming-owned Chinese outfit was able to regroup in the second quarter and stage a 31-19 run to cap the first half leading by eight points 50-42.

In the second half, the Sharks put up a combined 67-point production in the final 24 minutes of the game while containing the Flying Leopards to produce just 63 points.
