Indian badminton star PV Sindhu continued her winning roll after a successful campaign in Fuzhou as she easily passed through the opening round of the ongoing BWF Sunrise Hong Kong Open in Kowloon on Wednesday evening.

According to the match result in the official website of the BWF, Sindhu, who recently claimed her maiden World Superseries title by conquering the Thaihot China Open tournament last Sunday, demolished Susanto Yulia Yose of Indonesia with a 21-13, 21-16 straight-set victory in the Court 2 of the Hong Kong Coliseum that only lasted for 32 minutes.

The 21-year-old Indian badminton ace hardly broke a sweat in the opening game after the two players were knotted with a 2-2 early on. The 2016 Summer Olympic Games silver medalist left the Indonesian shuttler way behind after that as she easily took the first set.

Basing from the report of The Indian Express, the two rivals engaged in a tight second game with Sindhu and Susanto refusing to yield an inch to each other. The game was tied at 9-9, but Sindhu rallied and took a 12-9 lead before the 2016 USM Victor International Challenge Indonesian quarterfinalist leveled it to 16-16.

Sindhu, who is looking to replicate her splendid tournament performance in Fuzhou, managed to extinguish the fire and prevented her opponent from completing a second game run as she took the next five consecutive points to take the second set and avoided a decider.

With the victory, the current world No. 11 women's singles player will move on to the second round of the competition and will be facing Hsu Ya Ching of the Chinese Taipei. Hsu defeated South Korea's Sung Ji Hyun in the first round of the USD 400,000 badminton event in three sets that lasted for almost an hour.

The upcoming match between the two players will be their second official meeting since June of last year. Hsu enjoys a 1-0 lead in their head-to-head matchup after prevailing over Sindhu in the 2015 BCA Indonesia Open.
