After weeks of missing the badminton action due to injury-related issues, the ruling men's singles world no. 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia will be looking to claim his fifth BWF World Super Series Finals title in the Emirate of Dubai a couple of weeks from now.

Lee, who conquered the prestigious tournament in the years 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2013, will be stepping back in to the badminton court when the USD 1 million BWF season-ending event kick off on Dec. 14. Basing from the tournament results in the official website of the BWF, the three-time Olympic silver medalist has last competed in October at the Denmark Open, where he lost in the quarterfinal round against the Frenchman Brice Leverdez in three sets.

He later on pulled out from participating at the French Open and in November. The 34-year-old Lee skipped the tournaments of the China and Hong Kong Open.

Lee currently ranks no. 8 in the latest Destination Dubai Rankings, which makes the Malaysian badminton icon qualified to take part in the highly regarded Super Series finale. He is considered to be the most experienced shuttler among the finalist, but Lee said that he would not take it easy against the younger players.

"All players listed for the finals are superb players and I cannot take it easy with anyone of them."  Lee, who also owns 65 singles title under his belt, said.

"There is only one week left before leaving for Dubai, my health is improving and I have recovered from my injury, my target there is to win it for the fifth time, and all other contenders would definitely want to win as well," the Kuala Lumpur-based shuttler added in a published report by the BadmintonPlanet.

Denmark's Jan Jorgensen and Viktor Axelsen, Son Wan Ho  of South Korea, Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong, Marc Zwiebler of Germany, and China's Tian Houwei and Chen Long also made it to the final cut.

Lee had won three of the six Super Series championships this year, the Malaysia Open, Indonesia Open, and Japan Open.
