Apple's decision to ditch the headphone jack spurred a lot of debates in the tech community. The Motorola Moto Z also sparked the same debate when it hit the market without its audio jacks.

According to CNet, some tech experts said that by ditching the headphone jack on its upcoming flagship device, Samsung would look like as if it is slowly embracing this new trend. However, there are some in the tech community that saw this as an opportunity for Samsung to stand out against its rivals. By incorporating the standard headphone jack into the Galaxy S8, Samsung can use this feature as a selling point to potential customers.

Without the headphone jack, users will be forced to use Bluetooth headsets or headphones that are compatible with USB Type-C port, the latter is quite rare nowadays. By sticking to traditional headphone jack, the Galaxy S8 can essentially save a lot of battery juice since Bluetooth headsets require more battery in order to function.

On the other hand, if Samsung decides to ditch the headphone jack, it could free some precious space and make room for probably a bigger battery pack or more sensors and speakers, according to Engadget.
