Chinese Basketball Association Preview: Guangdong Southern Tigers Versus Zhejiang Golden Bulls

The raging Guangdong Southern Tigers will be trying to extend its impressive winning streak when they face the 15th-ranked Zhejiang Golden Bulls in the upcoming 16th round of the Chinese Basketball Association.

The Southern Tigers, who is now on a spectacular 10-game winning streak, are the highly favored team to emerge as the victor when the two professional Chinese ballclubs face each other on Sunday evening. The Feng Du-headed squad currently ranks third in the team standing having won 12 of their 15 scheduled games played since the regular season kicked off last October.

Guangdong is expected to have its firepower from the four-time CBA Domestic MVP Yi Jianlian and its former NBA player reinforcements Donald Sloan and Carlos Boozer.

According to EuroBasket, the 29-year-old Yi had a spectacular double-double game performance of team-highs 28 points and 14 rebounds in their 106-100 triumph over the league-leading team Guangsha Lions in the last round of the league on Wednesday night. The 2007 NBA Draft sixth overall pick went hot from beyond the arc, connecting five of his seven attempts and made seven of eight from the stripe.

The Southern Tigers will also be banking on the playmaking ability of the former NBA player Donald Sloan. The 6-foot-3-inches tall American guard is currently averaging 7.6 assists per game, and according to Asia-Basket, Guangdong's basketball import ranks third in the league with the most assist per contest.

In their most recent match against the Lions, Sloan registered a game-high of nine assist while scoring 26 points and snatching three steals.

The two-time NBA-All Star Carlos Boozer will also be a guy that will give headache to the Golden Bulls. The former Los Angeles Lakers forward had been dominating the board for the Southern Tigers. He pulled down 14 rebounds in their Wednesday game while also contributing in the scoring department by pouring in 17 markers.

The Southern Tigers will surely try to contain Zhejiang's Willie Warren. The Oklahoma Sooners product is currently averaging 33.3 points and 7.1 assists per outing.
