Leak Reveals Zen-Based AMD Naples Processor will Hit Market in 2017

A recently leaked presentation slide was spotted on several tech forums and it showed that the AMD Naples will be one of the premium processors that the company plans to release next year. The leak revealed that the AMD Naples will have 16 cores, 32 threads, and will based on the highly anticipated AMD Zen architecture.

If this leak holds any truth to it, AMD has the potential to beat its closest rival, Intel, in the server processor market. Intel currently has one of the most promising server processors in the market, the Intel E7 8890 v4 which packs 24 cores. However, the recent leak also revealed that one variant of the AMD Naples processor packs 32 cores and 64 threads, according to Segment Next.

A lot of rumors claimed that the top-tiered variant of the Zen-based AMD Naples will pack a massive 64 cores and 128 threads. AMD is yet to confirm these speculations, although a couple of leaks in the past have added a hint of authenticity to it.

In the past few months, AMD have been sending out samples of its upcoming Zen-based processors for testing and various benchmarking tests. Moreover, AMD is also scheduled to hold the "New Horizons" event on Dec. 13, where the company is expected to unveil its newest Zen architecture along with some peripherals like motherboard from third-party partners, according to GameNGuide.

AMD has been building up the hype around its upcoming Zen architecture. AMD claimed that its new technology will push the boundaries of computing way beyond the current limit.
