Recent rumors have emerged that the Brooklyn Nets are planning to trade Brook Lopez to the Boston Celtics before the trade deadline in February.

Lopez has been mentioned in trade rumors since the beginning of the season as the Nets are speculated to be set on going on a full rebuild amidst another losing season. The 28-year-old All-Star center was rumored to be linked to Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets, and Denver Nuggets, although there are no official offers yet coming from the said teams.

The Nets are again experiencing their same old struggles this season, losing 11 of their last 13 games. They are second to the last place in the East with a 6-16 record, with cellar-dwellers Philadelphia 76ers only a game behind.

With their season appearing to be going nowhere, some analysts believe that Brooklyn is headed to a full roster shakeup and Lopez is their most valuable trade asset at the moment.

HNGN reported that the Celtics are interested in acquiring Lopez ahead of the trade deadline.

Boston has been one of the most mentioned teams in the rumor mill this past year as they continue to search for more superstars to lead the club moving forward. The team has acquired four-time All-Star big man Al Horford in the recent free-agency and it looks like they are still not finished in adding more stars to their lineup.

According to the report, Boston is willing to send Jonas Jerebko and Tyler Zeller plus Brooklyn's own 2018 first-round draft pick that the Celtics have acquired in a previous trade in exchange for Lopez.

The Nets are set to gain a lot of value from the proposed trade with two young centers and a future pick, which could definitely set the tone for the team's rebuild.

However, Fansided noted that Lopez has been making himself more valuable this season and it looks like the Celtics will have to give more to successfully snag him away from the Nets.

Lopez has added the three-point shot to his arsenal this season and has become one of the best three-point shooting big men right now alongside Kevin Love, Channing Frye, and Ryan Anderson.
