Latest rumors are out that English Premier League team Chelsea is not keen on giving John Terry a contract extension, which means this could be the last season at Stamford Bridge for the club legend.

According to The Times, Chelsea advised Terry, who turned 36 earlier this month, that he will no longer be given a deal as a Blues player next season and that the club will find "another role for him at Stamford Bridge" moving forward.

Meanwhile, the Blues captain said to have re-assured the club that he will not request a transfer when the winter window opens in January, despite big-money offers from China and other countries in Asia. He also expressed his desire to finish the season for the only team he had played for in his entire 19-year senior career.

This was not the first time Terry's future at Chelsea was clouded in doubt as he was in the same position last season. Chelsea decided to extend him for one more year last summer, but it looks like the club will not go on the same route this time around as latest speculations reveal that senior bosses are planning to assign Terry to the team's coaching staff.

Terry has only played five times in Chelsea's 15 games in the English top-flight so far this term as new head coach Antonio Conte reverted to a back-three defensive formation which is giving them much success so far this season.

Conte has been utilizing defenders Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, and Gary Cahill for his vaunted 3-4-3 formation, resulting in the Blues settling at the top spot of the Premier League table at the moment.

However, SkySports reported that Chelsea's head of communications Steve Atkins denied the rumors, saying that it is too early for the team and Terry to talk about a contract extension.

"It's a little early in the season for stories like this to come out. It is the kind of discussion that we have with players in the last year of their contract, but much later in the season," Atkins said.

"That discussion has not taken place between John and the club. It's something that will be discussed later in the season, not for now," he added.
