With the victory, the reigning BWF Thaihot China Open champion further extended his game dominance over Zwiebler in their 11 official meetings since the year 2008. Jorgensen has improved his head-to-head matchup record against the German professional shuttler to 9-2.

Zwiebler, who currently ranks no. 14 in the world, remains winless and his last opponent will be Hu Yun of Hong Kong, China. Hu, who also had a 0-2 win-loss card, entered the prestigious USD 1 million BWF event as a replacement for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games gold medalist Chen Long after the current world no. 2 opted to withdraw from the tournament.

Jorgensen, who is looking to claim his first World Superseries Finals trophy, will be facing the incumbent world no. 7 Tian Houwei of China as the Dane's final challenger in the single round robin of Group A on Friday. The third-seeded Tian also won his last two game assignments in the group phase.

Meanwhile, in the men's doubles event, the third-seeded pair of Chai Biao and Hong Wei of China easily scored their second victory of the final competition of the BWF Superseries after the Danish tandem of Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen pulled out from the tournament.

The Chinese duo, which ranks third in the world by the BWF, will be playing the second-top seed Malaysian combination of Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong also on Friday.
