Chinese Basketball Association Round 25: Shanghai Sharks Versus Shenzhen New Century Leopards Preview

After suffering their third loss of the season, the league leading team of the Shanghai Sharks will be looking to immediately go back to the winning column when they face the sixth-ranked ballclub of Shenzhen New Century Leopards in the upcoming 25th round of the Chinese Basketball Association on Wednesday.

The Sharks, which currently owns the CBA's best 21-3 win-loss record, will be gunning to claim its second victory over the Leopards, which they have beaten last November with a 112-108 triumph.  The Yao Ming-owned Chinese outfit will also be seeking to outdo its most recent performance in which they lost against the team of the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the last round of the league.

With the league's leading scorer on their side, the Sharks are considered to have the upper hand over the Leopards, which entered the battle with a 115-101 loss against Liaoning Flying Leopards last Sunday. Former NBA player Jimmer Fredette, who is averaging 38.8 points per contest, is expected to carry Shanghai to another great game once again.

Basing from the EuroBasket, the American point guard poured in game-high 37 points in their last outing against Shenzhen. Fredette also posted nine assists, eight rebounds, and two steals in that same match.

The upcoming clash between Shanghai and Shenzhen is expected to be a high scoring game as both teams rank among the league's top 10 in the ballclubs with high points per game average.

According to Asia-Basket.com, the Sharks rank no. 4 with 108.8 points per match average, while the Leopards rank next with 108.6 points per outing. However, Shanghai rank no. 7 in the CBA in the rebounds department (42.4 rebounds), while Shenzhen currently rank no. 12 (41.0 rebounds).

In the assist category, Shenzhen has the edge over Shanghai as the Leopards rank no. 4 in the league with 17.4 assists per game, while the Sharks just registered 15.8 assists per contest, which is good enough for the 13th spot in the CBA.
