There are rumors that New York Knicks franchise player Carmelo Anthony would be ready to waive the no-trade clause in his contract if he is traded to either the Cleveland Cavaliers or Los Angeles Clippers.

Anthony, 32, has been the subject of recent trade speculations in the aftermath of the Knicks' heartbreaking 98-97 buzzer-beating loss to the lowly Philadelphia 76ers on Jan. 11. New York led by 10 points with 2:29 remaining in the game clock but they still gave up the victory.

The nine-time NBA All-Star reportedly went in a locker room "tirade" after the defeat, scolding his teammates for the embarrassing loss. He was also reportedly upset about being "frozen" in the Knicks' final possession that concluded with a Kristaps Porzingis air ball three-pointer.

With that, speculations abound that it could only be a matter of time before Anthony asks for a trade as he has never experienced winning with the Knicks even with 11-time NBA champion coach Phil Jackson at the helm as team president.

FanRag's Charley Rosen, a long-time confidante of Jackson, recently revealed in his column that since he has a no-trade clause in his deal with the Knicks, Anthony will "only accept being dealt to the Cavaliers or the Clippers".

Rosen went on to say that he is perhaps "sufficiently disgusted to accept a trade elsewhere", mentioning a lot of other NBA teams as potential trade destinations including the Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks, and Portland Trail Blazers.

However, CBS Sports noted that the Cavs is unlikely to trade for Anthony "unless things go remarkably haywire", which is also highly unlikely to happen. There were rumors in the past that the Cavs could trade Kevin Love for Anthony, but the defending champions are still on top of the Eastern Conference standings at the moment with Love playing probably his best season in Cleveland so far.

Meanwhile, the Clippers are also considered a long shot for the Knicks. The report said that "it just doesn't seem to make sense to trade Blake Griffin for Anthony" and a Griffin-Anthony forward tandem also seems to be not the greatest fit so LA acquiring Anthony is improbable.
