There are rumors that Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is attracting the interest of teams from the Chinese Super League following reports that the Germany international is on his way out of the Old Trafford.

Schweinsteiger, 32, has fallen out of Jose Mourinho's first-team rotation at Old Trafford this season after the Portuguese coach became the team's head coach last summer.

The former Germany national team captain played in 31 games in all competitions last season under United boss Louis van Gaal, scoring a single goal. He has zero appearances in the English top-flight so far this season under Mourinho.

The Daily Star reported that Schweinsteiger is aware that a deal is "on the table for him in China" and that the Red Devils are currently talking to several teams in the Chinese Super League.

The deal will reportedly see him get paid $217,000 per week, the same salary he is currently earning at United.

There were reports recently that Mourinho had been instructed by senior officials at United to sell his fringe players in the ongoing winter transfer window if he wants to buy his priority targets, such as Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann and Southampton's Jose Fonte, at the end of the season.

Schweinsteiger is said to be one of many United players Mourinho is planning to let go soon. The other names mentioned in the rumors are Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin, and Marcos Rojo.

Of the four, only Schweinsteiger and Rojo are still with the Red Devils after the club sold Schneiderlin to Everton on Jan. 12 for almost $30 million and Depay to Lyon on Jan. 20 for $20 million.

However, Tribal Football indicated that Schweinsteiger would rather switch to the United States' Major League Soccer or go back to the Bundesliga than move to China if his time in Manchester has run out.

Schweinsteiger was signed by United in the summer of 2015 from German top-flight champions Bayern Munich for a transfer fee of only $8 million. He was considered a flop signing for the Red Devils as he has never shown his top form at the Old Trafford since then.
