Huawei Watch 2 set to Launch in MWC 2017

Huawei has a plan of announcing the second generation of its smartwatch during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in February.

Huawei Watch 2 will have more sporty features and design compared to its predecessor. It feature a 42-millimeter timepiece with 1.4-inch display and classic styling. There will also be both leather and stainless steel straps to choose from. It is likely to run Android Wear 2.0, Google’s next-gen wearable operating system

The Watch 2 will add at least one major feature such as better cellular connectivity. Also, a new version of the smartwatch with a built-in SIM card, allowing data connections when Wi-Fi network is out of range or a paired smartphone. With the cellular connectivity, users will be able to make and receive calls. But the 4G LTE or 3G supports was not mentioned. 

The Chinese tech firm launched the first Huawei Watch back in 2015 during the MWC event as well. It offered also the option to make voice phone calls via Bluetooth. However, it meant that the watch is required to be permanently close to a smartphone in order to do so.

Huawei Watch featured a 1.4-inch full circle AMOLED display with 400x400 pixel resolution and 286 ppi. It was 42mm in diameter and made out of stainless steel and had Sapphire crystal coating. The watch had 300mAh battery with Bluetooth 4.1 and WiFi support.

Moreover, it had In terms of the sensors, Huawei offered 6-axis motion sensors. It includes gyroscope and accelerometer, heart rate sensor, barometer and vibration motor.

In addition, Google is expected to launch Android Wear 2.0 on Feb. 9. It will also unveil a pair of watches co-developed with LG – the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style.
