The Football Association (FA) has detailed plans to limit the number of non-European or imported players down to 50 percent.

These plans will prevent Football League clubs from signing non-European players, while also halting Premier League Clubs from sending over players on loan.

Greg Dyke, the FA Chairman, has stated his desire to stop the influx of imported players in order to allow for home-grown talent to flourish more.

These new plans will be following the ones Dyke's England Commission have already outlined since last May.

The proposal states that only players from the top 50 ranked countries will be eligible to be signed, unless the transfer is more than a prescribed amount; somewhere around £10 million to £15 million.

In addition, the FA proposes to enforce stricter rules when it comes to appeals. In the past years, almost 80 percent of decisions have been successfully appealed.

Due to the widespread success of appeals, there has been a lot of negative criticism on the bodies. Tribunals are also forced to rely on their subjective judgments regarding player's abilities.

This time, players will only be able to appeal on the basis that the process was not correctly followed. They will not be able to appeal the real substance of the decisions.

Another rule being revised is the amount of time players will have needed to play with their own countries' competitive internationals. The current rule is that players need to have played in 75 percent of the internationals within the past two years.

Now though, the plan drastically reduces the time to 30 percent.

The FA cleared up their new plan, stating that the decision will only allow for elite players to get visas into Europe, where these players can make a significant contribution to the sport in the United Kingdom.
