"If you love him, please send him to New York, because it is heaven there. If you hate him, please send him to New York, because it is hell there." This classic line originated from a TV Series, "A Native of Beijing in New York", which was broadcasted in China in 1993. Once broadcasted, the TV series became a big hit.

According to previous reports, Cao Guilin came up with the idea of remaking the TV series 10 years ago.  He wanted to continue the story and write the script of "Wang Qiming Returns to Beijing". However, when he finished the script, he found there was no good story in it. Zheng Xiaolong suggested Cao Guilin write another version. After that, Cao Guilin spent 10 years on writing the story. Half a year ago, Cao Guilin finished the script of the sequel "Wang Qiming Returns to Beijing". It is revealed that the story will mainly focus on Wang Qiming's and his two fellows' experience in China and US.

It is learned that both "A Native of Beijing in New York" and its sequel "Wang Qiming Returns to Beijing" will be remade this time. Since the story will be much more complicated, the public are concerned about who will direct the TV series. According to the latest news, Zheng Xiaolong, who directed "A Native of Beijing in New York" in 1993 will redirect the classic TV series again. However, since Zheng Xiaolong is now filming "Red Sorghum" in Shangdong Province and will film "The Legend of Ban Yue" afterwards, the remaking of "A Native of Beijing in New York" will be postponed.
