Former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion, Frank Mir, is uncertain of his future in competitive Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

Mir had just joined a new fight camp in Jackson MMA, the same gym of light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, and fellow heavyweight Alistair Overeem.

Despite joining the acclaimed camp, Mir's last four fights were all losses to top competition in former champion Junior Dos Santos, Daniel Cormier, Josh Barnett, and Overeem.

Mir says that he is currently taking time off the fight game to weigh the situation with him and his family.

"We haven't come to a conclusive idea yet," he adds.

While the UFC did not cut him, there may be a chance that Mir decides to not return to the octagon anymore.

Mir is one of the most accomplished heavyweight fighters in the UFC. He started fighting in 2001, and got in the UFC just four months after, beginning his ascent in the heavyweight division.

Five fights (four wins and a loss early on) was enough to punch Mir's ticket for a chance against Tim Sylvia, then heavyweight champion. In just 50 seconds of the first round, Mir broke Sylvia's arm with an armbar, and referee Herb Dean was forced to stop it.

Later that year, he got into an accident where a car knocked him off his motorcycle. He broke his femur in two places. He needed major surgery to repair the bone in his leg. The accident also tore all the ligaments in his knee.

As a result he needed to vacate his title.

He returned after a little more than a year, his record sandwiched with wins and losses.

He beat the hyped Brock Lesnar, stating the he was back, but Lesnar defeated him in his rematch.

He has won matches over tough competition over the years, but has seemingly run into a wall with the UFC's current talent-filled roster.
