HTC has announced that it will be launching a subscription option for Viveport to celebrate its first year anniversary.

The first subscription model for a VR app store is called Viveport Subscription, which is designed for virtual reality games and experiences. It will allow PC-powered headset owners the chance to download five compatible titles for only $6.99 monthly and then rotate them out of your selection for another five titles every month. Users will be able to download new titles at the beginning of each month or continue playing ones in their queue.

During the launch of Viveport Subscription, it will offer access to more than 50 titles. Upon the pre-registration, all Vive owners will receive a one-month free trial of the service. It will be releasing a limited number of top titles including popular hits such as Fantastic Contraption, TheBlu, Everest VR and others.

“VR is changing every industry imaginable, from gaming and entertainment, to art, design, engineering and education. The fact that we can offer a subscription model just shows the sheer amount of developers that have already engaged with Vive. This celebration and these offers are a chance for us to thank the people that have been on this journey with us from the start, as well as invite new people to the party as we look ahead to even more exciting developments going forward,” says HTC Vive's VP of sales Peter Frolund.

HTC Viveport subscription service will be available starting April 5 and the available 50 games will continue to grow rapidly. The Taiwanese tech firm has introduced the Viveport app store in August, offering non-gaming content for HTC Vive.
