Following her discussions regarding foreign policies when she was still Secretary of the State, Hillary Clinton shifted to discussing local issues about women's equal rights, affordable child care and paid sick leave during a panel meeting.

During the discussion for the Center for American Progress, which was held on Thursday, Clinton said allowing more women into the workforce will be beneficial for the economy, and may even add to about 10 percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product.

According to Clinton, Republicans, which she referred to as "politicians from the other side of the aisle" are preventing the policies from being passed.

Despite the efforts of her "friends," the Congress is still refusing to prioritize "family-centered economics," Clinton said. The differences in job opportunities between men and women is not being highlighted in political debates, she added.

Included in the panel during the discussions were other powerful women in politics like Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, and other fellow Democrats; Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Sen. Patty Murray and Rep. Rosa DeLauro, who talked about the economic stability for women and finding a solution to the existing policies made by "Mad Men."

A single mother from Chicago who was invited in the discussion said she was fired from her job at Whole Foods after missing a day of work because she picked up her son from scool. Gillbrand called the story "outrageous," expressing her rage at the lesser paid leaves the U.S. had compared with Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The panel members all pointed out that that the overall economy of the country will improve if women were given equal opportunities in the labor force.

Clinton, however, demonstrated the most passion in calling out the Republicans for their opposition in changing the current policies.

According to Clinton, "the other side" will not easily relent. If voters and citizens will only speak out for their future, change will happen, she said.
